Good evening, Tuesday!  Do you have an old frame laying around?  Here's a quick project you can use it for!  I think you could even make one for each of the four seasons and switch it out.  What do you think?

My kind of family...

I'm sure you've figured out that I have a rather large family.  Mostly because my family considers friends, friends of friends and anyone else we can scrounge up as family.  :)

The Clavell's are no exception.  They are family through and through.  We've adopted them and they've adopted me. 

Happy Birthday Allen!

It's my brother's birthday today. 

My crazy, older (old enough to be my dad), roller skating, rc car racing, pumpkin pie eating, brother.  Without getting entirely mushy, he's made an effort to be my brother...not just someone distant (considering our eighteen year age difference).  He makes me laugh a lot...we find the same things funny.  He sometimes makes me cry (cause I love him much and I hate it if he isn't happy).  He reminds me of our dad (and that I'd like to think we both get our crazy sense of humor from him).  He's pretty handy - I've never seen  him take on a project that he didn't finish and finish well.  And I'm glad he's home, instead of in the far off land of Australia.

Loving Monday

I have a love/hate relationship with Mondays, as I'm sure most of you do.  Today, however, I'm trying to embrace the "love" part!

• Loving that the air is cooler.
• Loving that I got to spend some quality time with my momma yesterday (if quality means having a Restaurant Impossible marathon while each of lounged, interspersed with a yummy breakfast, chili making and peas and okra eating)
• Loving that I've finally been able to make a few decisions about what my priorities are/should be
• Loving CSI and what the future holds!
• Loving that I was able to shop with one of my besties for clothes, and actually find a few things that I liked (I'm am not a clothes shopper)
• Loving that I got to see my other two besties and their families for a birthday shindig

The "Old" Pinterest

Pinterest is my bestest friend in the whole wide world.  If Pinterest didn't have to exist, I'd have to kick it old school, with pages torn from magazines collecting in piles.  Raise your hand if you had a three-ring binder with page protectors for all of your "ideas"?  Come on - admit it! :)

And say you still had a few of those torn pages laying around....or *clearing throat* some from this year?  I think they deserve a little cuteness.

The Family Quilt

We all know that I have a love/hate relationship with my sewing machine.  But my Aunt Pea is an expert!  She's been working on a family quilt that includes a square for every member of our family (including those we've "adopted').  Each person or family group has cross-stitched their names on their individual squares.  Time consuming and detailed.  It's going to be beautiful!

Pleasant

It's Monday again (amazing how that happens.  every.single.week).  And it's pleasant.  Even more so because it's following a very pleasant weekend.  I got a few things taken care that have been hanging over my head, spent time with friends, watched the Olympics and had good crafty time.  Pleasant.  Seems kind of boring to describe it that way, but in my world, pleasant is gooooood!  :)

It's also the beginning of August, which means my birthday is coming up!  Woot! 

It also means my Dad's birthday is tomorrow.  And while it's been twenty-two years since he died, I always seem to miss him most on his birthday.  Happy birthday, Daddy!

I'm planning on making even more time available to be creative in the coming weeks!  Until then, here's a recent project for the May issue of Scrap n' Art!

Happy Monday

Happy, happy Monday!

Mondays are typically busy, busy days for me.  And sometimes it's hard to look forward to them, but I do.  It's the beginning of a fresh week, a new start and the opportunity to get up to some new mischief :)

The biggest news?  In just seven short days I'm marking something off of my adventure list.  I'm headed to CHA (Craft & Hobby Association) summer show.  For those unfamiliar, these shows are where manufacturers announce what papers, embellishments and all around crafty goodness they will be producing in the next six months.  In other words - heaven.

Until next time....here's a random Easter project (from Scrap n' Art's April issue) that I haven't shared yet.  Maybe I'll have to revisit in March next year!

Red, White & Blue

It's hot...like summer.

Summer is officially here.  And it's hot. Although I think you all already know that.  I'm planning on staying inside as much as humanly possible this weekend.  Me + super hot = not good.  I'm not even sure a swimming pool will be very refreshing at the moment. 

The good news?  Late next week when the high is only 88 degrees, we'll all think it's cold.

So, for me, staying inside means crafty time.  What should I work on?

Hello Monday!

Hello, Monday!  I had a wonderful weekend. A "bucket list" dinner (which I'll share more about soon), a crafty day with the girls and a rather lazy Sunday.  I had so many plans for Sunday, but in the end I just needed a lazy day.  It was marvelous!

Happy Friday and Mother Dear

Happy Friday! I am so ready for the weekend. What about you?

The past couple of weeks have been extremely busy.  And when I say extremely, I mean insanely.  But I’m not complaining…because I’ve been doing fun, exciting things. Times like these remind me of how truly thankful I am for new opportunities and the time and even the funds to branch out a little.  So, here’s a little list.  Since just a couple of days before Memorial Day I’ve:

·         Spent a wonderful couple of days with my Mom, including a delicious long lunch on a vacation day.

·         Had a crafty day with friends at my house – probably by far the most relaxing/fun/crafty day I’ve had in a long time.

·         Went to see Battleship

·         A barbecue with my two Aunts – grown up time – relaxing and enjoying a new puppy.

·         A cookout with my besties and their kids.  Sitting outside on their newly remodeled porch and it was so cool outside it was almost cold!

·         Attended my small group end of year bash.  I’m amazed every time I am with the women in our group.  And even though I’ve not been able to attend for a while, it was like I never missed!

·         Attended an all-day dance workshop (say what?) and survived. 

·         Had lunch with my stand-in Mom and other bestie

·         Girl’s night at Sage….on a weeknight!

·         Took eight dance classes

·         Went to two fun dances

In the next few weeks...

·         Headed to a bucket list restaurant for dinner with my favorite “foody”

·         Another crafty day with the girls

·         Going to see Snow White and the Huntsmen

·         Taking a couple of days off of work next week

·         Planning a quick trip to Chicago in July

·         Planning to attend another dance conference in September

 

 Wowsa.  I’m having fun!
