I made it!

Well, I made it to the grand ol’ age of 29. And if birthday celebrations have anything to do with how the future year will be, then I’m gonna have the most fantastic year of all!

The most wonderful thing about this birthday, more than the friends (I know they will all understand this), yummy food, presents and cards was that my Mom was here. Actually here in town, and was the coordinator of this whole shindig. My very first “Happy Birthday” of the day was from her and it meant so much! Yay, Momma!

After work – where I was given the most ingenious birthday “muffin” from two of my bosses, I headed over to see Rachel at Oh La La Salon in Decatur. I got my hair cut and highlighted. It was so nice to be pampered. Then to CafĂ© Lily, where I met up with the “girls”, Mom, Jan, Terri, Laurel, Nancy, Lisa, Misti, Aveline, Paula, Cindy and sweet baby Elizabeth. The food was excellent! It was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time, and we had a great time socializing. Then we headed to Mom’s place for coffee, dessert and presents.

Here’s where I have to give mucho kudo’s to Mom for the dessert selection. I am a cheesecake fanatic. But it has to be the right kind of cheesecake, new york style, creamy, heavy on the cheese, light on the sweet. She found a great one! Oh, and some kind of apple, cinnamon cake as well.

Then on to the cards and presents – some sweet and beautiful and funny cards, a ton of scrapbooking goodies, money and gift cards for Target and Starbucks, a gift card to Veer, where I can purchase my favorite typestyle, and last, but certainly not least, the beginning set of my new dishes! I couldn’t have asked for anything more and I am so blessed to be recipient of such wonderful things!

The rest of the week was spent catching up on sleep from the birthday night and beginning the packing process. I am moving, again. I know, it’s been less than a year since the last move. No one knows this more than I do, but I’m looking forward to this fresh start. I’ll be about a mile from work and I can’t wait to start my new commute!

This week will be more of the same, then scrapbooking on Saturday at Archivers with the North Georgia Girls. I can’t wait!

Talk to you soon! Oh – here’s my inspiration of the week – a postcard from IKEA!

Spent the day at my "not so local" LSS, EMI Scrapbooking in Cumming. It was a spur of the moment thing and I am so that Laurel and I went. It was relaxing and productive. And, I got to scrap and have Zaxby's all in one day. Ahhhh! :) The store seemed to have a pretty good selection of the new, fun stuff with more on the way from CHA. It's good to see a small business in the scrapbooking industry "making it".

Kimberly was also there and hosted a make and take competition. Laurel was the winner of the grand prize! Way to go, Giggles! Here's my take on the contest.

I also worked on a couple of more photos Misti sent of Jonathan. They are very simple, but I think they turned out well. Here goes!

The "Mann"

Here's a layout I finished on Monday of the "Mann". Life just doesn't get any better than this!

ae - daily something

I’ve been reading/following Ali Edwards “daily something” concept and challenge. I got this brochure in the mail from Pantone. I love, love, love this sketch. What’s inspiring you today?

Congrats Jenni!

She received a special little gift via Josie (the dog) from Brett! It's gorgeous! Congratulations!

Australia or Bust!

As you can see by the new handy, dandy countdown clock to the right, only little more than a month until I go to Australia! I am starting to get really excited - and am busily making a list of things I would like to do while I am visiting Allen (the brother) and Marie (the fiance).

Here's my list so far:
Take a boat ride around Sydney Harbor and look at the opear house
Visit the Australian Zoo
Go the beach (Bondi beach seems to be the most logical spot)
Go car racing with Allen (and no, this is not normal car racing - little cars on little tracks)
Go to a scrapbooking store

There are hundreds of things to do and I am in a bit of a quandry, as I want to use the time I have wisely and do the really fun things, but as I have never been to Australia, it's a toss up about what will really be fun and what won't. I did look at the Bridge Climb site today, but I don't think I could convince Allen to do it. Heck, I'd probably have a hard time convincing myself to do it, but whenever will I have the opportunity to do something like that again?

As you can see, the last item on the list so far is to visit a scrapbooking store. Australia seems to be pretty much on the cutting edge of the scrapbooking industry, so I'd like to do a little comparison shopping. Anyone reading this blog know of a good reference of stores in Aussie land? I'll be in New South Wales.
I'm also taking suggestions about places to visit and things to do! Send them to me!

More later!
