"He opened an antique silver box on the desk and took out a cigarette"

Saw this on Lisa B's blog and couldn't resist...

The closest book to me was "Glory in Death" by J.D. Robb. Fresh from the library, by one of my favorite authors. Can't wait to get to page 56....

Happy Thanksgiving Weekend!

Happy Thanksgiving Weekend! Here's hoping you all had much to be thankful for and were surrounded by friends and family and love!

It's Saturday and I have been in my cozy little house for two days. It's been wonderful! I've been finishing up Christmas cards, decorating, sleeping, catching up on Torchwood, and experimenting with some new artistic endeavors. It's been cold and rainy...all the more reason to enjoy being snug and warm in the house.

Here's a little project I worked on. I'm not really excited about how it turned out...but it was experimental and I used lots of new techniques...and learned a lot!

Sometimes it seems hard to sit down and make a list of what you are thankful for…even harder to get out of the "I'm a victim" funk and realize that there is so much to be thankful for that you don't realize. I was havng a moment like that today…so I decided to sit down and make a list.

I have a wonderful, crazy family

My family is healthy

I am healthy

I have friends who love unconditionally and are darn fun to be around

A good job (and these days, even having a "bad" job is something to be thankful for)

I have a comfortable and warm home

I have a car that runs well

I have a artistic outlet…I look forward to times of creativity

I'll never go hungry

I'll just about always have diet coke to drink

I can get free books from the library

I have a Tivo (hehehe - I couldn't resist throwing that one in there!)

That took about 3 minutes, if that. Now it's your turn. Take a couple of minutes and make a list…what are you thankful for?

Happy Pre-Thanksgiving!

Twilight Redux

Is "redux" spelled right?
Less than 24 hours and Misti and I are back in the theater to see Twilight again. Yes, we are nerds, but we sure are having fun!

Talk to you later!

Twilight Time

Standing in line for Twilight. Just a few more minutes!

36 days until Christmas!!!!

And I have been a bad blogger….oh well.

This past weekend was interesting. I was determined to learn how to sew and make pajamas for all of my little neicelings and nephewlings. And my mom was brave enough to attempt to teach me. I had this vision of the whole sewing process finally clicking in my brain. Like a magical light switch, I would become a "Grubbs". In other words, I would actually be able to sew, and sew well. All of the Grubbs women sew, and enjoy sewing. And while I am a Boyer…I've spent more time with the crafty Grubbs…and these crafty, "womanly" things should come naturally, right?

Not so much.

Mucho kudos to my wonderful mother, who never once lost her patience, even when I did and who encouraged me to the bitter end…well, the bitter end of the weekend at least. There's still lots more to be done. I'm practicing speaking positively…surely we can get it done!

On a more exciting note, this weekend is crazy jam packed. Starting with dinner with the girls…and Twilight, the movie!!! I am so stinkin' excited. Then a little slumber party…and scrappin' on Saturday. Then church and a road trip up to Dahlonega for my Aunt Paula and Patricia's birthday party. I'm going to try and remember my camera this time, so hopefully there will be photos to post.

And then…it's Thanksgiving week. Whew. I can't believe it!

My eyes!!!

There's this blinding light.  It's very bright.  It's hurting my eyes - turn it off!!!!  That, my friends is the light at the end of the tunnel.  And I'm seeing it!  Finally feeling better….and my brain is functioning.  I'm planning on taking it easy this week so I don't regress…but the wheels they are a' churnin'.

And as that light gets brighter and brighter I am suddenly very, very aware that Christmas is six weeks away.  Have I started my Christmas list?  That's a big, fat NO!  I better get started.

I can make a list…..I'm very good at list making….the trick will be marking things off of that list.

Talk to you all soon!

Update

Just shortly after my last (and rather cheery post, I might add), I think I experienced probably most embarassing moment ever...and I mean ever.  I was feeling a little sick to my stomach that morning, but was determined to work through it.  I got up early to vote, stood in line, stood in the line for the computer to vote, turned in my vote, got my little sticker and proceeded to throw up in front of about 100 people in the cafeteria polling place.  Most.embarassing.moment.ever.  Seriously.

I'm still at home 4 days later and not feeling as good as I would like to be.  Keeping this post short because even sitting up at the computer isn't very fun.

Surely this will be over soon.  I'm tired of being sick.

It's too early...

But it's for a good reason. Estimated wait time at 6:45 am? As long as it takes. :)

Happy Turkey Day

No, a month hasn't magically disappeared! I promise! Today is my brother's last day in the US, so we are having Thanksgiving. His boys and daughter-in-law are here, and we're cooking away.

I received "the" phone call this morning. Mom had been sick all night and was calling me to come and cook. Now, for anyone who knows me well - I didn't inherit the cooking gene...so, I'm cooking with bedside instruction from Mom. Things are smelling good, so hopefully it will all come out all right. Luckily, she made the pies yesterday...that wouldn't have happened on my watch. I can't ever get the darn pie crust to look pretty....or not burnt.even with tin foil :)

Hope you have a wonderful Sunday!
