A Short Trip

Headed to the R-Ranch this afternoon. Maybe the leaves have started to change. I really hope so. And it will be cool. And I'll get to see my Momma and her dear friend Rita who is visiting from Germany. And friends, and maybe my Aunt and if my Aunt is there, then I'll get to visit with Cosette.

I've started to grow attached the R-Ranch. Way more than I ever thought I would be. In fact, while my Mom was in Florida I was wishing she was back so I could visit her at the ranch. Strange. I'm not really a outdoorsy kind of girl.
Besides, if I didn't visit often this guy would miss me. Almost always when I drive in, he's there to welcome me. I don't even know his name and I have a ridiculous amount of photos of him. But I always have to pull over to the side of the road for a visit.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Late is better than never, right?  I hope everyone had a fantastic and special day!  I spent the entire weekend with my Mom and Aunt Pea at the R-Ranch.  It was incredibly relaxing.  So much good food, a nap, books, puppy time, and too-short time with wonderful friends!

I’m catching up on posting layouts.  This one’s pretty simple….photos aren’t great, I think I was losing light. Oh, well!

Scrapista recipe album workshop

FINAL LOGO copy

As you know I'm steadily working on on building up a workshop/retreat adventure with Scrapista. Over the past few weeks, the website has had a amazing makeover....and I'm excited to announce that I'll be teaching a class at the R-Ranch in Dahlonega in May!

recipe album cover

This recipe album is one of my favorite projects.  Especially because the recipes are printed on grocery bags!  And it's all made even better by the venue.  The R-Ranch is an amazing place located in the Georgia mountains.  My family discovered it several years ago, and we've been visiting ever since!

Can you join us?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Don’t worry, I’m not completely crazy.  Just a little behind.  So, here it is.  Happy Thanksgiving!  Our thanksgiving festivities began on Sunday before Thanksgiving with a “celegration” (a celebration and congegration all in one – as coined by my momma) at Pappadeaux.  We celebrated Thanksgiving, the birthdays of both Aunt Paula and Aunt Patricia and Uncle Charles and Rose’ anniversary (from a distance since they couldn’t make it to Atlanta).  We missed everyone who is so far away, and a few who are nearby but couldn’t make it.

The Aunts and my Mom headed to R-Ranch on Monday, but returned on Wednesday to cook Thanksgiving dinner and take it back to the ranch.  I spent the actual day at my good friend Laurel’s, with her wonderful family, and played entirely too much Wii tennis.  More Wii over the remaining weekend and a little bit of creative time.

I’m finally feeling like my old self. And it’s so nice to have both my brain and body functioning like a normal human being.

And tomorrow is a big day!  Misti and I are going to see Pioneer Woman!  She’s going to be in Atlanta for a book signing.  I’m sure we’ll both be posting periodically through our afternoon/evening tomorrow.

36 days until Christmas!!!!

And I have been a bad blogger….oh well.

This past weekend was interesting. I was determined to learn how to sew and make pajamas for all of my little neicelings and nephewlings. And my mom was brave enough to attempt to teach me. I had this vision of the whole sewing process finally clicking in my brain. Like a magical light switch, I would become a "Grubbs". In other words, I would actually be able to sew, and sew well. All of the Grubbs women sew, and enjoy sewing. And while I am a Boyer…I've spent more time with the crafty Grubbs…and these crafty, "womanly" things should come naturally, right?

Not so much.

Mucho kudos to my wonderful mother, who never once lost her patience, even when I did and who encouraged me to the bitter end…well, the bitter end of the weekend at least. There's still lots more to be done. I'm practicing speaking positively…surely we can get it done!

On a more exciting note, this weekend is crazy jam packed. Starting with dinner with the girls…and Twilight, the movie!!! I am so stinkin' excited. Then a little slumber party…and scrappin' on Saturday. Then church and a road trip up to Dahlonega for my Aunt Paula and Patricia's birthday party. I'm going to try and remember my camera this time, so hopefully there will be photos to post.

And then…it's Thanksgiving week. Whew. I can't believe it!
