How can it possibly be Sunday night again?

Whew - this ended up being a LONG post!
It's been a weird few days, but I'm happy to report, they have been productive and "attitude" altering. I'm in quite a funk at work, and am in dire need of an attitude adjustment. Creatively, I'm soooooo distracted. Friday night was the culmination of a lot of it so I spent the majority of the afternoon and Friday night trying to get over it so I could enjoy my weekend. I am not responsible for other people's actions, I am only responsible for my own – but darn it, it's hard to not react to how other people behave! Hoping that this week will be much better.
Saturday was much, much better – spent the day at Archiver's with the girls. We were pretty low key and quiet – which is unusual, but it could have something to do with the fact we were at two different tables. It was a productive day, though. I managed to eek out two "explosion" boxes which I will photograph and post later in the week. If I may say so, they turned out really nicely. We were planning on a midnight movie, too, but we were all so tired, we just headed home.
Sunday was a much needed pajama day. I turned my phone off, slept and watched a little TV. I didn't even open the blinds during the day. It was pretty slovenly J but my brain finally shut down and I felt like I could control my thoughts again.
Rebecca Sower had a great post on her blog on Monday about having an "unplugged" day. It definitely reiterates all that I've felt the past couple of weeks and I think for the next month I am going to give it a try. Here's what she wrote:
Lately I have found that all things 'plugged in' bring big distractions to my creative process, my focus. All it takes is for the phone to ring or my email notification signal to sound and, whether I respond or not, I'm already distracted. I need to prove to myself that I can, for at least one day, step away and disconnect. One day.
What to do with a day of no blog-surfing, no television, and no phone calls? Some ideas . . .
· Imagine an art gallery called and asked you to bring a piece by to exhibit; that should push and stretch your creativity. What you will end up with is a piece that at the very least you'll be proud to hang in your home.
· Finish some or all of the kits you've purchased, those you had to have but they sit unopened/unfinished on your shelf.
· Create a piece or a few that you will send in for publication consideration to a magazine. I promise you will never be in a magazine if you don't submit something.
· Make cards. Make cards for birthdays, celebrations, occasions, everything. Pile up a big pile and then you will have cards on hand. I've done this before and let me tell you, it's worth it!
· Journal. Write, write, write. Pull out a box of photos and write something for as many as you can. Get lost in the process of it.
· Pull out all those magazines where you've marked projects you'd really like to make for gifts or for yourself, your home. Get started.
· Make it a technique day. All of us have techniques that we'd like to try or perfect (that dang soldering still gives me fits). Use this day to practice to perfection one technique or to learn several new ones.
· Play and make art all day with your kids.
· Take your camera out and snap photos all day. Try out all the settings, learn new techniques, practice being amazing behind the lens.
Notice the trend in all the above? At the end of the day, you have something to show for your day. Blog-surfing is fun and inspiring, but at the end of the day do you ever think that maybe-just-maybe you could've done something a little more substantial with your time?
So, think this over. If you plan to join me one day this week (any day that works for you), drop me a comment and let me know. Then post on your blog and challenge your readers to do the same if you'd like.
Some thoughts: Don't place too-high expectations on yourself; relax and roll with it, no pressure. If your workspace is completely trashed (like mine), try to straighten up the night before so you won't have to spend half a day cleaning up. Music is something you may want to make an exception for; if you're highly inspired by music as you create, play it. If you're a working girl, you may want to set aside two evenings instead of one full day. I plan to completely unplug the computer and the phone...just running over now and then to check emails is still a big distraction; remember, the idea is to focus and immerse in the creative process.
Next Monday, let's all come back together and post photos of what we did with our unplugged day on our blogs. That'll be fun, don't you think?
Now, my initial thought is "No way can I not turn on the television!" The computer I can handle – but not the television. That's not true, though. So, I'm going to start slowly with one night a week and I'll spend that time doing something creative. Yikes – now that I've written it, I have to do it!

Happy Valentine's Day...
As one of those sad people who doesn't have a valentine, I'm considering myself my very own valentine. So, it's only appropriate that I give myself a gift. Which is this little birdie print. Granted, I bought it at the Heirloom Stamp Tour two weeks ago, but I'm justifying it as my Valentine's Day present!!
Hope everyone has a great day!

What up, ya'll?
Wow, that was really twangy in my head. Yikes.
This past weekend was marvelous. I spent the night with Mom on Friday, mostly chatting about this and that and starting on the hemming pants project. Poor mama, I didn't intend on the bulk of the project ending up on her, but I'm afraid it did. We didn't actually hem anything, but I ripped the seams out and tried on pants while she measured and ironed. Next step, the dreaded sewing machine! I'll keep you posted.
Saturday afternoon, I dropped Mom off at our friend Terri's and headed home. The sun was shining and I drove with the sunroof open and the music blaring. Sometimes, it's just necessary! Once I got home I started purging some of the scrappin' supplies. Mostly paper. I've got more than I am going to use. A lot of it is leftover paper packs where I've used one sheet, but won't use the other 3 sheets exactly like it in the pack. I spend a lot of time digging through the same paper all of the time and there just isn't any more inspiration. So, I've got a big pile of it on the kitchen counter, and I'm thinking I'm going to see if I can sell it, unless someone comments here with a really great reason why I should give it to them J There's a lot of cardstock in the pile, too.
Yesterday I worked on a little art project inspired by Ali Edwards "Weekend Creative". I've got photos, but for some reason couldn't get them uploaded to blogger, so I'll try again later. It ended up way better than I imagined it would! And it will take the place of the Christmas collage that was made back in November – at least until I decorate for Christmas again.
I also watched "The Bourne Ultimatum". It was an excellent movie. I give it 5 stars. I think it was better than the first and second Bourne movies and I was psyched that they left it open for a 4th.
That's it for now! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

As much as abhore Johnny Fairplay....
...Survivor's season premiere was just plain weird. Johnn Fairplay was one of the returning "Favorites", known for his outrageous lie about his grandmother dying during filming of his first season on Survivor, but he just plain fizzled last night. He told some story about missing his 7-month pregnant girlfriend and wanting to go home. So, the remaining favorites sent him. It was so bizarre. His being voted off did create on of the most humorous moments of Survivor in my book, though. Fairplay made Jeff Probst hug him before he left tribal council. The look on Jeff's face was priceless!
On Survivor in general, I'm really excited about this season. For me, usually, the first 2-3 episodes are a drag. I have a hard time identifying with the cast members and don't start picking favorites until their personalities start to really show. This episode was completely different for me! I am so rooting for the Fans! It seems the Favorites are just a little too relaxed. It's going to be interesting to see how everything plays out.
Ok – enough about Survivor. I do know that not everyone who reads this blog is a fan. What about Big Brother?? It starts Tuesday!!!!! I'm going to be in reality tv heaven!
I intend for this weekend to be pretty low key. The biggest goal I have is to hem about 7 pair of pants. And that is a BIG goal! I don't sew….ever…but thanks to
I do want to work on my
Whew – this ended up being super long….I'll let ya'll go! Oh yeah, there probably won't be many posts on your favorite scrappy blogs this weekend during the day – everyone is at CHA – but lots of people have promised to post recaps at night. I'm excited to see what is being released!
Have a great weekend!

Check out my new timer *look to the right*
Can I get a Woo-Woo??!!! Officially paid in full for Creative Escape! Let's just say, I am so excited I had to have a countdown clock! And then got sad when I saw that it said 210 days!
I also just got off the phone with
Doing the happy jig!
So far, this week has been pretty low key. Looking forward to small group tomorrow night and spending some quality time with my momma this weekend. Jan and Aunt Pat flew to their respective hometowns today, so she is all by her lonesome. It sounds like Jan will be gone for about 2 months while she helps her mom get settled at her new home, a assisted living community. Sending lots of prayer her way – that they are both able to cope with all of the change.
Later gaters!

Busy, wonderful weekend!
I did see the some of the girls from Scrap Chic Boutique and quite a few from Archivers! What a small world scrapbooking is! :)
Misti and I ended up finding a place to sit and chat while Laurel shopped. It was really relaxing. It isn't often we can just sit and talk about everything and nothing.
Sunday night was a great super bowl party. 7 children under the age of 6. Yikes, but all things considered, it was pretty tame.
Every year, until the Super Bowl comesalong I forget how much I enjoy football. I wish I knew more about the rules and plays - I need a tutor! It's such an adrenaline rush, especially during a game between teams like these two. I was impressed.
Here's a card I made for Laurel's birthday. Enjoy! (This was a hard one to take a phot of. The flash kept reflecting off of the transparency. Squint your eyes - it'll look real nice that way - hehehehe)

It's the weekend!
Tomorrow, I am meeting Laurel and Misti for breakfast and to walk around the Heirloom Pro show at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds. We've never been, so I'll give a full reveiw either tomorrow or Sunday. It sounds like it will be a big building full of stamps, stamps and more stamps. We should be in hog heaven...
Oh - I've found some artwork that I like for the scraproom - here's a link to Linda Wood's etsy shop. Wouldn't you know it, she's sold the one I really liked. But I like "Be your own Buzz", too. Hopefully, she'll put more prints up soon. I heard about Linda from an interview on Lainie's Scraphappy podcast. Linda and her sister are the authors of Visual Chronicles and Journal Revolution. I love their approach to art - the no fear approach!
More later! Have a great Saturday!
