I have a grown-up scraproom!

As some of you know, I moved in September, and when I moved into this apartment, I made the decision to use the dining room as my scraproom. Since September, it has held my brand new table from the clearance room at American Signature Home and a jumble and mess of scrapbooking "stuff".

Last Saturday, my Mom and I made a mondo trip to Ikea and purchased the shelving unit I had picked out. Note to self: when purchasing a 72" square shelving unit that comes in three separate boxes and weighs about 300 pounds, find yourself a man to help. Needless to say, lugging it up to the house was bad...really bad. But we did it - and managed to get it put together. Major kudo's to eMo (that's Mom). I couldn't have done it without her - and she even put up with the persicknityness that comes to the surface when I am overly tired and have a aching back.

So - without further ado, here is the new scrap space. Obviously, things are a not all completely organized and in there appropriate space, but we are well on our way.

The clock I finished last night for the scrap room - Clock, transparency, transparent letters all by Heidi Swapp, Urban Lily MayElla Collection Paper, Icicle Stickles, Making Memories paint (a mix of a really bright aqua and grey).

Holiday Ornaments

Here's another little project courtesy of Ali Edwards (and I'm sure lots of other people have don't this in the past). It was a pretty easy project - easily finished in a a day or so.

These were great gifts for co-workers, friends and family alike. And also fun as present toppers.

Warning: Make sure the bulbs are not cracked before attempting to apply rub-ons. Otherwise, you'll end up with glass pieces in your hand, all over your sofa and on the floor. Then you're a little leary for the rest of the time it takes for you to finish the project - and it's just not as fun anymore. Just a little advice from me to you :)

It's almost 2008! Yikes!

Can you believe it? I don't quite think I do, either. I'm overwhelmed by the idea of the new year, but at the same time I am super excited. I've got lots to share about the last couple of weeks, so this might be a long post. Hope you are up for the challenge :) Actually, I have so many things - I think I might make them all separate posts - in order to drag out the excitement - well, my excitement at least.

I had the best intentions about holiday cards. I actually had completed 60 cards and mailed them out in November. Haven't received your yet? You won't. Now, don't take that badly - it's just that I mailed them all to be included in holiday gift boxes for the troops in Iraq. Feel better now?

I felt really motivated to do something, but had no ideas, until I stumbled on to a site called http://www.troopcarepackage.com/ and Angel Ramsey. She gathers information from troops and passes that information along to you if you want to sponsor them. It's a great way to make a big impact on their lives while overseas.

She was creating her own boxes, and was kind enough to include my cards. So, hopefully, they were a piece of brightness for the holidays.

My original intention was to create postcards to send out for all of my normal holiday card "receivers" - yes, you. But, that didn't happen. And instead of feeling guilty about it, I'm going to post this message here along with a picture of the cards - and let that be the end of it.

I didn't forget about you - I still love you - I still want to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Really! You just won't get the message via the US Post Office. :)

Today's link is www.scrapinstyletv.com.  I found this site through Laine's podcast on ScrapHappy.  This girl is hysterical – she has a great since of humor and loves reality tv.  It just can't get any better than that!!

 

I've been up since 6 so I could meet some of my coworkers at Toys R Us to shop for Egleston/Scottish Rite toy donations.  We had a blast, but I'm having a hard time sitting down and actually starting to work J

 

Today is going to be a bit crazy, but it will be worth it.  I have a ton of errands to run and work to do.  I backed out of scrapping time tomorrow (sorry Laurel and Misti!), but will still be busy since Mom and I are making Brunswick stew for the holidays!  This is one of my favorite family recipes, and I've never actually made it…hopefully it turns out good!  It takes an entire day to make…so we'll be busy.

 

Christmas is only 11 days away!

13 Days until Christmas!

Dear Boys and Girls (are there any boys out there?)….only 13 days until Christmas.  Yikes!!!!  I'm about finished shopping (it helps when you aren't shopping much on purpose) and have finished all of my handmade gifts.  That makes me very proud *patting myself on the shoulder*.

Link of the Day - All About Books

Hi all! I am supposed to be scrapbooking, but got sidetracked with entering books on www.goodreads.com and www.paperbackswap.com

Oh well, I've been wanting to do this for a long time, so I finally got it all updated! Sooooo - those are the links for today. Goodreads is a great place to create lists of books you've read, want to read....it also includes group discussion forums. Paperbackswap is a site for trading books. It's a fantastic idea. When you buy a book and don't want to keep it (instead of being a good little girl and going to the library), you can post it on this website. Others can request and you simply mail it to them via media mail. You then receive a credit to order a book from another member. No money is exchanged and you get brand new book (well, new to you) for about $1.50. Yay! I posted 66 books and within just an hour or so, I've had requests for 29 of the books. That means, I can potentially order 29 new books all for myself! I love this site!

Well, the laptop monitor is still on the fritz and I can see, but I can't see any images at this point - and it's slowly getting darker and darker. I better finish up and turn it off so I can use the computer tomorrow night. :)

It's the weekend!

Good morning!  I apologize for not posting yesterday - the screen on my monitor has gone out - sigh.  Now I have to start looking for a monitor!  That might be fun!

 

Today's (or rather, yesterday's) link of the day is Kris's color stripes.  She takes photos or images and creates a color palette based on those found in the image.  It's pretty cool.  The only thing I wish she would do is assign a pantone color to the swatches so it would be easier to duplicate!  But, I'll take what I can get.  The link to her blog is http://color-stripes.blogspot.com/.  Enjoy!

This weekend is going to be a little busy.  I'm babysitting the Clavell girls tonight (always a funny time!), getting my hair cut in the morning, coordinating my office holiday part Saturday night (almost all of the work is done) and scrapping on Sunday!  I'm looking forward to all of it.  Oh - and at some point in there, I have to find something to wear to the party.  I better get busy!

This has got to be one of my favorite blogs, especially since Laine is a fellow reader, and she creates podcasts once a week with reviews of scrap related and non-scrap related books. In past podcasts she has also interviewed some of the "big" names in scrapbooking like Ali Edwards, etc.

Busy, busy, busy...

Happy Belated Thanksgiving! I had a wonderful day - the first Thanksgiving in several years with Mom. Brunch at Ray's on the River and then to Mom's house for naps and puzzles and reading and crossword puzzles.

Followed all of that by a day of scrapping at Laurel's house in her now infamous scrap room. It's so completely comfortable - I enjoy spending time there (especially when there are holiday dinner leftovers involved). Spike (who's real name is Tigger, but I refuse to give in to the idea that Laurel didn't name him Spike) the kitten was also extremely entertaining. I also finished up my Christmas cards and started working on some handmade gifts.

I'll post pictures as soon as I figure out what the deal is with the laptop's video card. I think it might be fried. All of the pictures look like negatives. What a mess.

I finished the gifts this afternoon - so I feel ahead of the game! Yay!

Can you believe it's December 1st? The tree is up, gifts have been started, I've started a little shopping and Christmas carols are playing in the background! What a wonderful way to start the month.

I'd like to do something on the blog a little different for the month of December. I'm going to try and post a website or blog I've found and enjoyed every other day of the month. Hopefully, you'll find something that inspires and interests you in the midst of it!
