Fun Together: Scrap It Girl's July Challenge

Happy July!  I can't believe we are already halfway through the year.  Scary!

Scrap It Girl's July challenge is a color challenge.  Red, blue, cream and khaki.  I did a little shopping in my stash, and amazingly enough, I had everything I could possibly need to create this layout.  I especially love the new stamp that I used in the background.  It just adds the perfect little something.  I hope  you'll joins us over at SIG for the challenge.  Just click here for all of the details!

Scrap It Girl June Challenge: When You Need An Anchor

June's challenge for Scrap It Girl was all about "Things That Have Wings",  I ended up loving this layout - but I'm not loving the photo.  The butterflies look like they are on top of the cardstock, but in reality, I used my Silhouette to cut the white cardstock, then mounted patterned paper underneath.  I'm not really sure why I can't capture that.

Anyhoo - in person, I love this layout - and I love it's topic, two of my besties who have indeed been an anchor when I've needed it.  I can't thank them enough.

Will you join us at Scrap It Girl this month?  Go to the original post here and link up - you'll be in the running for a fantastic prize!

Favorite Things Friday

Happy Friday!  I'm so, so ready for the weekend!  I'm looking forward to a little celebration tonight, and family time tomorrow in the mountains.  It is just what the doctor ordered!

But first - it's Favorite Things Friday over at Scrap It Girl!  And the topic of the day?  Washi tape storage.  I have to admit, I've only ever stored my washi tape one way.  And that is like this.

Please ignore my messy chalk handwriting - it's hard to write on a curvy jar! :)  I love this big cookie jar full of goodness.  There is something very satisfying about rummaging through for the perfect roll of washi tape.

What about you?  How do you store your tape?  Click on over to the Scrap It Girl post and share with us!

Scrap It Girl May Challenge

Happy May 1st! I've got a layout and challenge info to share, but first...a teeny, tiny announcement!

Most of you know for the past several years I have been the owner/editor of Craft Storage Ideas.  It's been a true passion project, especially since it combines my two favorite things in one feel swoop - crafting AND organizing!  I've been so lucky and blessed to work with an amazing contributor team and I count them all as dear friends.  Over time it's been harder and harder for me to spend as much time with CSI as I would like while still giving me time to be creative!.  All that being said, I am so happy to announce that Noelle McAdams and Shelley Walsh (sisters!) are the new owners/editors of Craft Storage Ideas.  They are fabulous and I can't wait to see what the future brings!

Now on to the challenge!  Scrap It Girl's May challenge is about Mothers and Mother Nature!  And of course I chose Mothers, mostly because I have pretty fabulous Momma.

Care to join in the challenge?  Create any project that incorporates Mothers or Mother Nature and link up on the original post here.  And you'll be in the running for this awesome prize package!  Come on over!

Scrap It Girl April Challenge

Happy April Fool's Day!  I'm so not a joker...wish I was...but I'm terrible at keeping a straight face or not telling the truth.  I can't stand it.  So, no jokes for me :)

April brings a new challenge with Scrap It Girl and this month it's all about using bags and tags.  Use them on anything or as a stand-alone idea.  I hope you'll join us by clicking here and adding your project to the link list.

Here's what I created!  The only sad thing is after it was all said and done...I realized that Ewok is spelled without a C!  Shoot.  Oh, well.  It happens, sometimes.

Favorite Things Friday

Today's topic?  Our favorite thing to drink and eat while crafting!  Here's mine.  Don Francisco's Vanilla Nut in my favorite owl-y cup.  Straight from my Keurig.  I don't tend to snack while I craft...but if I want a little something, it's usually something sour or hard candy!  Hope you'll join us over at Scrap It Girl and share your favorite snack and drink, too!  Who knows?  Maybe I'll change up my routine, if I see a good idea!

Love This {Scrap It Girl February Challenge}

Scrap It Girl's February challenge is all about hearts.  It's February after all!  I'm not a terribly froufy girl, so ruffles and tons of pink and red aren't really my thing.  So, I had fun creating something "heart-y" that wasn't typical.

This layout is the one and only I'll make with a photo of this guy.  It's bittersweet.  But I do have good memories of love and adventure from this trip.

Will you join us for the challenge?  Check out the challenge page for all of the details!

Favorite Things Friday

My favorite scrapbooking tool.

Bam.

If you are hardcore papercrafter, you are probably shaking your head in agreement.  If you are a newbie, let me introduce you to the love of my papercrafting life.  :)

Back when I started this whole scrapbooking thing, 90% of my time was thinking about adhesive.  What kind should I use?  Do I have enough for my project?  The refills cost how much??!!!!   Do I need a different adhesive for ribbon, embellishments and paper?  How the #!%$#%^$^$ do I get these Hermafix tabs out of this dang cartridge (seriously, you know what I'm talking about, right?)?

The biggest thing, though, was price.   I can't even comprehend how much I spent on adhesive.  If I was working on a mini album, I could easily go through three or four cartridge refills.  That could easily be $25!

And then I saw one these ATG guns sitting on a nearby craft table (this was back when ATG's were specifically made for framing, not crafting).  And the angels' began to sing!  It was an investment to begin with, but man, I never think about having enough adhesive.  I order refills once a year or so and never think about it again.  I also use my ATG for embellishments and ribbon (occasionally I use adhesive strips, but only if I have them).  Really, the only other adhesive I use regularly is a liquid for heavy duty use.

So, there you have it.  My favorite tool.

Want to join in the fun of sharing your favorite tool?  Just go to Scrap It Girl's post and add your post to the linky!

Favorite Things Friday

The team at Scrap It Girl is starting something new - Favorite Things Friday!  Each of the design team members each chose one of their favorite projects...and here is mine.

First of all, it was REALLY hard to just pick one thing.  And secondly, I was really surprised that this was it.  I made this page back in 2012...and I distinctly remember how I felt when I finished it.  Happy.  Satisfied. Inspired.  Here's to more projects like this in 2014!

Be Present {Scrap It Girl January Challenge}

2014 is here!  I can't believe it.  2013 seemed to zoom past, but it seems like I say that every year.
Instead of setting resolutions this year, I am adopting a bit of a mantra.  It's more than "one little word", but I think it will still qualify.

Be Present.

By definition, "the period of time now occurring".

I am a planner, wonder-er, worrier.  And sometimes those things overshadow what is happening right this moment.  So this year, I am going to just "be present".  Of course the planning won't ever stop, but I am making a conscious attempt to enjoy the heck out of each and every moment.

That also means reducing distractions so I can fully focus on the present.  It even means I have to work on putting the phone down occasionally (eeeeeeek!!).  And maybe not multi-task as much (yikes!).

Scrap It Girl's January challenge is to use a shiny star on your project or incorporate one of your New Year's resolutions into a project.  Will you join us?  Check out the challenge page for all of the details!

Scrap It Girl's Mid-Month Challenge

Hey everybody!  While my creative time has been limited lately, I did have the chance to create a mini-album for Scrap It Girl's mid-month challenge "Got Wood?".  Each member of the design team had the chance to use one of Genuinely Jane Studio's wood mini-albums.  I chose the circle mini-album...because of course I gravitate to anything that even remotely resembles a polka-dot!

I mainly used elements from Studio Calico's September kit, with a few embellishments thrown in.  My favorite part?  Using Tim Holtz tissue tape around the edges of the book instead of painting or trying to get paper all the way to the edge.  I think I'll definitely be using this idea again in the future!

I also broke out my new Silhouette to cut the paper to fit on the circular discs.

Will you join on us on this challenge?  If so, check out the official challenge page here and enter to win a prize, too!

So, I goofed...

So, I goofed.  Waaaay back in April, I posted about the Scrap It Girl challenge here. And proceeded to post a photo of my March project.  Not April.  And I've just now realized it.  Geez.  :)

So, a mere two months later....here is April's project!  The goal was to use arrows or angels.  I think you can guess which I chose.

Happy Monday!
